The 105 Acre site, high in the Rock Mountains was designed for a 1,000 student capacity with a potential expansion to 1,500 students. The site was carefully master planned to preserve the natural environment. Hundreds of existing trees were harvested and transplanted on the site.
The three story, stepped profile design of the building responds to the terracing of the mountain site. The exterior materials / forms were selected to mimic the historic barns and houses of Conifer and the surrounding mountain communities.
From classrooms to technology to sustainable practices, the concept of flexibility presided over the entire design of the school.
